Lighting can refresh your space

Lighting trends to update your home

Are you looking for the perfect gift for your loved one? Or maybe you are wanting to treat yourself to a new look for your space. Lighting is a great place to do an update. With some of the 2023 trends, you can bring a big change to your home by just updating the lighting.

Statement focal point

This year lighting was all about creating a unique focal point. Unusual pieces make your home feel more “uniquely you”. These statement light fixtures are conversation pieces. Think about the feel you are desiring to create in a room when selecting your fixture. Our team at Hardwood Specialities can show you companies that specialize in these pieces as we help you select the perfect light fixture.

Smart lighting

Smart lighting has grown a lot since it originally hit the market. Now there are voice activated lights, motion sensing lights, and lights on timers. On top of this, the lights don’t have to be just your standard soft white lighting. Your lighting can change color depending on the programming you have set up.

Permanent outdoor trim lights

With new builds and homes that have hard to reach peaks, many people are starting to install permanent outdoor trim lights. This smart lighting can be customized for your Christmas lights but has even more uses. Are you a Tennessee Vol fan? Did they just win a big game? Turn the outside of your house orange with these lights. Do you want to be patriotic for July 4th? You can use red, white and blue lighting outside. This lighting is permanently installed and has the ability to shine in many different colors.

Mood lighting

Lighting impacts how you feel and sets the tone for a space. Lamps can be used to cast a lower and softer light in a space to make it feel welcoming. Consider some of the trendy lamps when bringing a fresh look in your space.

Dimmers are another way to soften the lighting in a room. You can install these in every room in your house if you wish. They are nice in bedrooms if you want just a bit of light. In dining rooms, you can turn the lights lower and light candles for a nice dinner. In your living room at Christmas, they are nice when the tree is lit but you need just a touch more light in the evening.

Under cabinet lighting is another great option when trying to softly light a space. When you have the lights turned low at Christmas to enjoy all of the twinkling lights, it’s nice to have a soft glow from the kitchen. These under cabinet lights are tucked away under the cabinets. They can be put on motion sensors and light switches.
